A note that is implied in a musical phrase, but is not played or played only very faintly. it is a note that you feel but do not actually hear sound. Ghost notes are musical notes accurring in a rhythmic figure which are purposely deemphasized, often to the point of near silence..
These notes are played, very softly between "main" notes, they are neither absolutely emphasized nor unemphasized.
