In Historia Abscondita Nicholas Thurston appropriates, materially and intellectually, Walter Kaufmann’s canonical English translation of Friedrich Nietzsche’s The Gay Science. This chapbook re-reads possibility into two key aphorisms from that classic work by re-presenting Kaufmann’s index, stripped of its page references, as a concrete list poem.
