Initials B.B.: Bertrand Burgalat in Conversation with Ando Woltmann

Produsent, arrangør og instrumentalist Bertrand Burgalat må kunne kalles en legende innen french pop – en slags Phil Spector eller Gainsbourg-ambassadør av vår tid. Han har utgitt seks soloalbum, er en direkte inspirasjon for størrelser som Daft Punk og Air og har i tillegg jobbet med et mangefasettert kobbel med fantastiske musikere som Nick Cave, Anita Lane, Mick Harvey (Mick Harvey's Intoxicated Gainsbourg), Robert Wyatt, Soulwax, Pizzicato 5, og ikke minst nevnte Air.

Burgalat er lyden av sine inspirasjonskilder; Ravel/Poulenc/Messiaen, i møte med en fransk chanteuse/chanteur-tradisjon AKA France Gall, Françoise Hardy, Brigitte Fontaine og Jacques Dutronc – dynket i hans kjærlighet for elektronisk musikk, personifisert i tyske Kraftwerk.Siden etableringen av sin label Tricatel har Burgalat blant annet utgitt Chassol, The High Llamas, Valerie Lemercier og Michel Houellebecq (LP!). Han har remikset Depeche Mode og produserte Laibach allerede som 25-åring.

Ando Woltmann er ikke bare kjent som vrikkende frontfigur i King Midas. Han trives også godt i skrivestua, som lesere av Morgenbladet sikkert har fått med seg for lengst. Men i samtale med disco- og pop-ikonet Bertrand Burgalat, overgår Woltmann franskmannens eleganse med sin stilsikre pen. Og det er godt gjort! Initials B.B.: Bertrand Burgalat in Conversation with Ando Woltmann har blitt et overflødighetshorn av en liten bok!

Boken inngår i en serie chapbøker som inneholder intervjuer med utvalgte Lyse Netter-artister. Serien designes av Espen Friberg og trykkes i to versjoner per tittel. 

100 nummererte RISO-eksemplarer trykkes med hjelp av vår gode venn og kunstner Jessica Williams. Eksklusive og kortreiste med andre ord. 500 eksemplarer trykkes opp offset.  

Ytterligere fire bøker med tilknytning til festivalen i 2023 vil utgis vinteren/våren 2024 og prosjektet videreføres frem mot og i etterkant av den kommende festivalen.

He has released six solo albums, is a direct inspiration for figures such as Daft Punk and Air and has also worked with a multi-faceted group of fantastic musicians such as Nick Cave, Anita Lane, Mick Harvey (Mick Harvey's Intoxicated Gainsbourg), Robert Wyatt, Soulwax, Pizzicato 5, and not least the aforementioned Air.

Burgalat er the sound of its sources of inspiration; Ravel/Poulenc/Messiaen, in the face of a French chanteuse/chanteur tradition AKA France Gall, Françoise Hardy, Brigitte Fontaine and Jacques Dutronc - drenched in his love for electronic music, personified in German Kraftwerk. Since the establishment of his label Tricatel, Burgalat has Among others published Chassol, The High Llamas, Valerie Lemercier and Michel Houellebecq (LP!). He has remixed Depeche Mode and produced Laibach as a 25-year-old.

Ando Woltmann is not only known as the wiggling front man in King Midas. He also thrives in the writing room, as readers of Morgenbladet have probably realized long ago. But in conversations with the disco and pop icon Bertrand Burgalat, Woltmann surpasses the Frenchman's elegance with his sure-footed pen. And you are well done! Initials B.B.: Bertrand Burgalat in Conversation with Ando Woltmann has become a cornucopia of a small book!

The book is part of a series of chapbooks containing interviews with selected Lyse Netter artists. The series is designed by Espen Friberg and printed in two versions per title.

100 numbered RISO copies are printed with the help of our good friend and artist Jessica Williams. Exclusive and short travel, in other words. 500 copies are printed offset.

Four additional books related to the festival in 2023 will be published in the winter/spring of 2024 and the project will continue towards and after the upcoming festival.
