Brunemark

Typically a painter and collage artist, Tal R utilizes photography in his book Brunemark. Wandering through a suburban backyard, the book explores from a variety of vantage points, focuses and depths of fields. The artist embraces technical errors such as lens flare, automatic flash, over and under exposure, debris on the lens and distorted colors to create his suburban fairytale. Some images are collaged, resulting in repetition and revealing overlapping lines and edges. A pregnant woman occasionally inhabits the landscape, adding to the mystique of the gardens. Brunemark follows themes of Tal R’s paintings described as "kolbojnik", the Hebrew word for leftovers. His work incorporates elements from everyday life to create original stories.
