Italian Maiolica
Maiolica is a type of tin-glazed earthenware associated particularly with the Renaissance, when its colourful decoration was at its peak. It was made in Italy from the thirteenth century and is still in use today. This book provides an introduction to the history of maiolica, a glossary, and a bibliography, with sixty-four colour illustrations and accompanying text, arranged chronologically, to show some of the most characteristic styles of maiolica from about 1250 to 1920.
ContentsIntroduction; 64 colour plates with text facing; Glossary; Bibiography.
Review‘There is a quart of information contained in this pint-sized book, and the illustrations are a delight … For a handy guide to the subject - and especially if you don’t know your compendiario from your istoriato - I would heartily recommend this book.’ Museum News
